Woodward Canyon, Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon, Washington State, 2021
Woodward Canyon is one of Washington State’s pioneering wineries, founded by Rick and Darcey Small in 1981 in the Walla Walla Valley. Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon has been produced since the winery’s first vintage, drawing on mature Cabernet plantings from some of Washington’s most established vineyards.
This vintage combines Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec from Sagemoor, Weinbau and Woodward Canyon Estate vineyards. Aged for 21 months in new French oak, it is rich and structured, with black plum, blueberry and dark fruit layered with graphite, spice and dark chocolate. Firm, polished tannins carry the wine through a long finish, with plenty of structure for further aging.
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec
Appellation: Washington State, United States
Farming: Sustainable practices
Style: Red. Full-bodied, structured and age-worthy
