Brothers Christoph and Johannes Thörle run their family estate in Saulheim, where limestone-rich soils play an important role in both their Riesling and Spätburgunder. Their Spätburgunder comes from younger vineyards around the village and offers an approachable introduction to the estate’s Pinot Noir.
The grapes are destemmed and fermented spontaneously, followed by aging in barrel. Fresh cherry and dark berries are joined by subtle herbs, pepper and smoky spice. The palate is dry and lively, with fine tannins and a savory, lightly chalky finish.
