Weingut Leitz, Riesling Berg Schlossberg Rüdesheim GG Trocken, Rheingau, 2020

$89.00

Weingut Leitz is a historic Rheingau estate in Rüdesheim, led by Johannes Leitz since the 1980s. Berg Schlossberg is one of Rüdesheim’s steepest and most important vineyard sites, rising above the Rhine at the western end of the Rheingau. Its rocky soils and warm south-facing exposure produce Riesling with considerable concentration and a distinctly stony character.

This vintage was given a short maceration before pressing, then fermented and aged primarily in large, old oak casks for 19 months. Ripe peach, quince and citrus are joined by herbs and subtle smoky notes. Concentrated and dry, the palate combines ripe fruit with fresh acidity and a firm mineral character, leading to a long, lightly saline finish.

Varietal: Riesling Appellation: Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg, Rheingau, Germany Farming: Sustainable viticulture Style: White. Dry, concentrated and mineral
