Weingut Egon Müller, Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett, Mosel, 2023
Weingut Egon Müller is one of the historic estates of the Saar, centered on its holdings in the steep Scharzhofberg vineyard near Wiltingen. Planted entirely to Riesling, the vineyard’s gray slate soils and cool conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining pronounced acidity. The estate’s Kabinett is selected from ripe fruit harvested before reaching the richer, more concentrated Spätlese level.
The 2023 was fermented spontaneously and matured in traditional large oak casks. Light and delicate, it shows lime, stone fruit and subtle floral notes with a smoky, flinty character from the slate soils. Gentle sweetness is balanced by firm, lively acidity, leading to a long, mineral finish.
Varietal: Riesling
Appellation: Scharzhofberg, Wiltingen, Mosel, Germany
Farming: Traditional viticulture
Style: White. Off-dry, vibrant and mineral
