Vieux Château Certan is a historic Pomerol estate owned by the Thienpont family since 1924, with 14 hectares of vineyards in a single block on the Pomerol plateau. Its mix of clay and gravel soils is planted to Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 is a blend of 78% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2019 combines ripe black cherry, plum and blackberry with violet, spice and subtle savory notes. Concentrated and layered, the palate has polished tannins and fresh acidity that balances the richness of the fruit. The Cabernet varieties bring floral and savory complexity, leading to a long, refined finish.
