Tua Rita, Giusto di Notri, Rosso Toscana, Tuscany, Italy, 2023
Tua Rita was founded in 1984 in Suvereto, on Tuscany’s southern coast, and Giusto di Notri has been one of the estate’s principal wines since its first vintage in 1992. Named for the nearby church of San Giusto and the estate’s original vineyard in Notri, the 2023 is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, grown on mineral-rich clay soils. The 2023 was harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel, followed by about 18 months in first- and second-use French oak barriques. Rich but polished, it shows blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry with Mediterranean herbs, spice and subtle balsamic notes. Fine tannins and fresh acidity balance the depth of fruit, leading to a long, savory finish. Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc Appellation: Toscana Rosso, Tuscany, Italy Farming: Integrated farming, hand-harvested Style: Red. Rich, structured and polished
