Llámalo X is the project of fourth-generation grower José Joaquín Ballesteros Catalán in Villarrobledo, Albacete, where he focuses on old vineyards and traditional local varieties. Vestigium comes from La Casica Camino, a vineyard at 730 meters planted to 70- to 80-year-old bush-trained Airén vines on clay-loam soils. The 2023 was harvested by hand and given a short cold maceration before spontaneous fermentation, with a portion fermented on the skins. Fermentation finished in traditional clay tinaja, followed by three months on the lees in tinaja and six months in French oak. Textured and savory, it shows ripe apple and quince with herbal notes and subtle almond and spice, balanced by enough freshness to keep the wine lively through the finish.
