Joseph Drouhin is a historic Burgundy house founded in Beaune in 1880, with estate vineyards throughout the Côte d’Or and beyond. Their Côte de Beaune Rouge comes from a vineyard overlooking Beaune, situated above the Premier Cru Clos des Mouches. Planted to Pinot Noir on clay-limestone soils, the site produces a particularly fresh and elegant expression of the variety.
This vintage was harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts, followed by 12 to 15 months of aging in French oak. Fragrant red cherry and raspberry are joined by violet and subtle spice. Fine tannins and fresh acidity give the palate an elegant, supple structure, leading to a persistent finish.
