Jolie-Laide is a small California winery founded by Scott Schultz, working with distinctive vineyard sites and a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar. This North Coast blend brings together Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre from three different growing areas, including high-elevation vineyards in the Yorkville Highlands and coastal-influenced sites in Mendocino.
The 2021 is a blend of 42% Grenache, 38% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre. The fruit was crushed and fermented as whole clusters with native yeasts, with each vineyard vinified separately before blending. Aging took place in neutral oak puncheons and barriques. Juicy dark and red fruit is joined by plum, pepper and subtle spice, with fresh acidity and supple tannins carrying through the finish.
