J.B. Becker is a historic family estate in Walluf, founded in 1893 and today led by Hans-Josef Becker. Since taking over in 1971, Becker has championed dry Riesling, often working with exceptionally ripe fruit and giving the wines ample time to develop. Wallufer Walkenberg is one of the estate’s important vineyard sites, and this Auslese Trocken represents a particularly concentrated expression, taking fruit harvested at Auslese ripeness and fermenting it fully dry.
The 2023 is powerful and deeply flavored, with ripe yellow fruit and citrus layered with fennel, wild herbs and spice. Despite its concentration, firm acidity and a pronounced stony character keep the wine fresh, leading to an exceptionally long, dry and savory finish.
