.B. Becker is a historic family estate in Walluf, founded in 1893 and today led by Hans-Josef Becker. Since taking over in 1971, Becker has remained committed to traditionally made, dry Riesling, allowing the ripeness of each vintage to determine the Prädikat rather than chasing a particular style. Wallufer Oberberg is a south-facing vineyard above Walluf, where loess-loam soils mixed with Taunus quartzite give Riesling both richness and a firm mineral character.
The 2023 was harvested at Auslese ripeness but fermented fully dry, resulting in a powerful yet remarkably fresh Riesling. Ripe peach, mango and lime are layered with fennel, white pepper and herbal notes. There is real depth and texture on the palate, balanced by firm acidity and a stony, citrus-driven finish that carries on at length.
