J.B. Becker is a historic family estate in Walluf, founded in 1893 and today led by Hans-Josef Becker. Becker is best known for his resolutely traditional approach to Riesling, making wines that develop slowly and often remain in the cellar well beyond the norm before release. Wallufer Berg Bildstock takes its name from the religious shrines and crosses historically found among the vineyards here, with vines rooted in deep loess and loam soils.
The 2023 Spätlese is only lightly sweet, reflecting Becker’s characteristically restrained approach to Prädikat Riesling. Citrus and stone fruit lead into grapefruit, kaffir lime and subtle herbal notes, with a stony, earthy undertone adding complexity. The palate has both depth and freshness, with its gentle sweetness balanced by firm acidity and a long, finely structured finish.
