Jade Gross, Harrobia Tinto, Rioja, Spain, 2023
Jade Gross began her winemaking project in Rioja in 2018, working with small parcels across the region. Harrobia comes from La Cantera, a parcel in Labastida in Rioja Alavesa, planted to 36-year-old Tempranillo bush vines at around 600 meters on clay-limestone soils.
The 2023 was harvested by hand, with 70% of the fruit destemmed and 30% left as whole clusters for fermentation in open-top stainless steel. The wine was then aged for 12 months in French oak, 30% new. Ripe cherry and dark berries are joined by spice and subtle savory notes, with fresh acidity and fine tannins giving the wine a structured, balanced finish.
Varietal: Tempranillo
Appellation: Rioja, Rioja Alavesa, Spain
Farming: Organic
Style: Red. Fresh, structured and savory
