Il Marroneto was founded in 1975, when Alessandro Mori and his brother planted the estate’s first vines on the northern slope of Montalcino. Madonna delle Grazie is the estate’s crown jewel, drawn from its historic vineyard beside the small church of the same name, which dates to the 1200s. The vineyard sits around 400 meters above sea level on soils of ancient marine sand mixed with mineral deposits.
Made entirely from Sangiovese, the 2021 fermented spontaneously in oak vats for roughly 16 to 17 days without selected yeasts or temperature control, followed by 47 months in large oak casks and additional aging in bottle. The warm, dry 2021 growing season produced concentrated, beautifully ripe fruit while retaining freshness. Red cherry and wild strawberry are joined by dried flowers, herbs and subtle spice, with fine tannins and bright acidity carrying the wine through a long, elegant finish.
