I Clivi was founded in 1996 by Ferdinando Zanusso and is today run by his son Mario, focusing on the native varieties and hillside vineyards of eastern Friuli. Their Schioppettino comes from a southeast-facing vineyard in Prepotto, an area closely associated with the variety, where the vines grow on ponca, the layered marine marl characteristic of this part of Friuli.
Made entirely from Schioppettino, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured without oak, preserving the variety’s naturally bright and spicy character. This vintage presents fresh cherry and strawberry with floral notes, black pepper and a touch of licorice. Lively acidity and delicate tannins keep the palate light on its feet, leading to a dry, savory and gently spicy finish.
Varietal: Schioppettino
Appellation: Venezia Giulia, Friuli, Italy
Farming: Organic practices
Style: Red. Fresh, peppery and aromatic
