Georges Laval, Cumières Premier Cru Brut Nature, Champagne, NV 2022

Georges Laval is one of Champagne’s most respected grower-producers, farming just a handful of hectares in the Premier Cru village of Cumières with rigorously organic methods that date back to the 1970s. Because the domaine bottles only tiny quantities each year, every release has become highly allocated, especially among collectors who prize the purity and definition of Laval’s style.

This release, based on the 2022 harvest, is created from Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, with a small portion of Chardonnay. The wine opens with red-fruited aromatics of wild strawberry, raspberry and blood orange alongside notes of crushed herbs. On the palate, it’s driven by the natural richness of Cumières fruit and the precision that comes from zero dosage. The finish is long, saline and beautifully textured.
