Floral Terranes, Whole Cluster, Cabernet Franc, North Fork of Long Island, 2023

$26.00

Erik Longabardi and Benford Lepley founded Floral Terranes in 2017 out of a shared passion for fruit foraging, fermentation, and the preservation of Long Island’s agricultural heritage. For the 2023 Whole Cluster Cabernet Franc, they worked with organically farmed fruit from a grower site in Mattituck, less than a mile from the Long Island Sound. The vineyard sits on sandy-loam soils typical of the area, which naturally produce lighter, fragrant reds with a clean maritime edge.

The wine was fermented entirely with whole clusters, giving it lifted aromatics and the gentle herbal notes that Cabernet Franc shows so well when handled delicately. The palate is bright and lightly textured, with red cherry, plum skin and a touch of fresh sage, finishing crisp and savory with a subtle saline impression from the nearby shoreline. It’s an easy, expressive Long Island red that speaks clearly to its coastal origins.

Varietal: Cabernet Franc
Appellation: North Fork of Long Island, New York, United States
Farming: Organic farming at the grower site
Style: Red. Fresh, aromatic and lightly savory
