Erik Longabardi and Benford Lepley of Floral Terranes sourced the 2023 Chardonnay from an organically farmed parcel known as Elijah Vineyard in Mattituck on the North Fork of Long Island, less than a mile from the Long Island Sound. The site is planted on sandy-loam soils typical of the North Fork, which naturally produce fruit with bright acidity and a clean, coastal edge.
The grapes were harvested in early October and pressed as whole clusters before fermenting in barrel. The wine then rested on its lees for ten months, gaining subtle texture without losing its freshness. This is a crisp, lightly structured Chardonnay with notes of citrus, green apple and soft salinity, finishing clean and quietly expressive of its shoreline origins.
