Domaine Simon Bize et Fils is a longstanding Savigny-lès-Beaune estate, today led by Chisa Bize and known for traditionally made Burgundy from vineyards throughout the Côte de Beaune. Aux Grands Liards is a 1.60-hectare parcel planted over several generations, with vines dating to 1939, 1950 and 1979, along with more recent replanting. Its limestone soils mixed with reddish, pebbly clay typically produce one of the more structured village-level wines in the domaine’s range. The 2022 was fermented with whole clusters and native yeasts, then aged for roughly a year in barrel, primarily used oak. Red and dark cherry are joined by wild strawberry, floral notes and subtle spice. The palate has good depth and firm but fine tannins, balanced by lively acidity that keeps the wine fresh through a long, savory finish.
