Domaine Michel Gay et Fils is a family estate based in Chorey-lès-Beaune, now led by brothers Sébastien and Laurent Gay. Their Corton-Renardes Vieilles Vignes comes from a small parcel of old Pinot Noir vines in Les Renardes, on the Corton hill. The domaine gives this Grand Cru a longer, more ambitious élevage than its other reds. The 2019 is deep and concentrated, with ripe cherry, blackberry and raspberry joined by violet, spice and subtle earthy notes. The palate is powerful but balanced, with firm, fine tannins and fresh acidity providing structure. Savory and mineral notes build through the long finish, giving the wine plenty of depth and aging potential.
