Catherine & Pierre Breton, Les Beaux Monts Chinon, Loire Valley, France, 2022
Catherine and Pierre Breton are longtime leaders of organic and biodynamic farming in the Loire, producing Cabernet Franc in Bourgueil and Chinon as well as Chenin Blanc in Vouvray. Les Beaux Monts comes from Beaumont-en-Véron in Chinon, where roughly 50-year-old Cabernet Franc vines grow on chalky clay-limestone soils near the confluence of the Loire and Vienne rivers. The 2022 is a fresh, approachable expression of Cabernet Franc, balancing bright red fruit with floral, earthy and savory notes. Supple but present tannins give the wine structure without making it heavy, while lively acidity keeps the palate energetic through the finish. Varietal: Cabernet Franc Appellation: Chinon, Loire Valley, France Farming: Certified Biodynamic Style: Red. Fresh, savory and supple
