Castello di Volpaia is a historic Chianti Classico estate based in the fortified village of Volpaia, high in the hills above Radda in Chianti. The estate has been farmed organically for decades, and Balifico, first produced in 1985, is its Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the namesake vineyard. The 3.6-hectare site sits between 432 and 490 meters on sandstone soils, with a south to southwest exposure. The 2021 is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 18 months in French oak barriques. Dark cherry, blackberry and blueberry are joined by notes of spice, tobacco and subtle oak. The palate is structured but fresh, with firm tannins, bright acidity and a long, savory finish. Varietal: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon Appellation: Toscana, Tuscany, Italy
Farming: Certified Organic Style: Red. Structured, savory and fresh
