Bruno Rocca, Trifolé, Dolcetto d'Alba, Piedmont, Italy, 2023
Bruno Rocca is a family estate based in Barbaresco, where the Rocca family has been farming since the 19th century and is particularly known for its vineyards in Rabajà. Today Bruno works alongside his children, Luisa and Francesco, producing Barbaresco as well as a small range of wines from the traditional grapes of the Langhe. Trifolé is their Dolcetto d’Alba, made from mature vines planted on clay, marl and limestone soils. The 2023 vintage was fermented in stainless steel for roughly 15 to 18 days with 30% whole clusters, then aged in stainless steel without oak. It is generous and immediately approachable, with ripe plum, blackberry and cherry, complemented by subtle floral and spicy notes. The palate is round and juicy, with gentle tannins and Dolcetto’s characteristic touch of almond on the finish. Varietal: Dolcetto Appellation: Dolcetto d’Alba, Piedmont, Italy Farming: Traditional farming Style: Red. Juicy, fresh and softly structured
