Benoît Déhu, Cuvée Initiation Extra Brut, Marne, Champagne, NV 2021

$106.00

Benoît Déhu is an eighth-generation grower based in Fossoy at the western end of the Vallée de la Marne. He works his vineyards organically and biodynamically and is particularly known for his focus on Meunier. Initiation combines Meunier from his La Rue des Noyers vineyard with Pinot Noir from a nearby parcel planted with a massale selection originating in Burgundy.

Fermented and aged in oak without malolactic fermentation, then bottled unfined and unfiltered with no dosage, it is dry and energetic, with apple and citrus layered with red fruit, herbs and subtle spice. Bright acidity carries through to a fresh, savory finish.

Varietal: Meunier and Pinot Noir
Appellation: Vallée de la Marne, Champagne, France
Farming: Organic and biodynamic practices
Style: Sparkling. Dry, savory and energetic
