Au Bon Climat has produced La Bauge Au-Dessus as a classic expression of Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir, following the restrained, Burgundian-inspired style established by founder Jim Clendenen. The 2023 combines Pinot Noir from Bien Nacido and Solomon Hills vineyards, two cool-climate sites shaped by the maritime influence of the Santa Maria Valley.
The wine shows red berry and cherry fruit with black tea, spice and earthy notes. Bright acidity and fine tannins balance the fruit and subtle oak, giving the wine a supple texture and savory finish.
