Arnot-Roberts, Syrah Clary Ranch Petaluma Gap, Sonoma County, California, 2023

$76.00

Clary Ranch is an exceptionally cool, windswept Syrah site in the Petaluma Gap near Tomales Bay. Planted in 2000 on sedimentary clay-loam soils, the vineyard is dry-farmed and organically farmed. Persistent Pacific winds and a long growing season allow the fruit to ripen slowly while retaining high natural acidity.

The 2023 was harvested on November 3, fermented with whole clusters and aged for 10 months in used French oak. It is light-bodied and savory Syrah, with red currant, black cherry, black pepper, charcuterie and woodsmoke. Chalky tannins and vibrant acidity lead into a long, peppery finish.

Varietal: Syrah
Appellation: Petaluma Gap, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County, California
Farming: Organic, dry-farmed
Style: Red. Savory, peppery and structured
