Agrapart Pascal, Vénus, Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature Grand Cru, 2018
Agrapart’s Vénus is a single-vineyard Blanc de Blancs from Fosse aux Pourceaux, a 0.60-hectare parcel of Chardonnay in the Grand Cru village of Avize, planted in 1959. The vineyard is worked entirely by hand and horse, without heavy machinery. The 2018 was matured in old 600-liter oak barrels, bottled under cork and aged extensively on the lees before disgorgement without dosage.
The wine shows pear, citrus and white flowers alongside fresh hazelnut. The palate is concentrated and intensely chalky, with bright acidity and a long, saline finish.
Varietal: Chardonnay
Appellation: Avize Grand Cru, Côte des Blancs, Champagne, France
Farming: Sustainable viticulture with organic practices
Style: Sparkling. Chalky, structured and concentrated
